Cat constipation is a result of inappropriate digestion of food substances in the stomach of the pet, the constipation symptoms often affect older cats nevertheless it can be cured. 

You may know kitty eats all kinds of substance that comes their way they can feed on foods feather even in the process of licking the hair in their body can as well assimilate the hair all of this goes to the stomach, 

But the stomach of the cat is made such that it can easily digest all substances that find their way to the intestine. If the food can not be digested then you know there is a problem.

Constipation in cats is categorised into three parts which are constipation, obstipation, and megacolon, all of this three are different stages of constipation.

 The constipation stage is the earliest stage sign of the disease of the cat at this point the bowel is clear, while the second stage is known as the obstipation at this stage there is a blockage in the bowel but not too serious while megacolon is a complete blockage the only remedy is surgery

Causes of cat constipation

First and foremost kitties that are inactive often suffer more constipation this is one of the main causes of the disease. 

Another cause is a poor digestive health condition and the kind of food given to the cat, other causes of constipation include diets, dryness, hairballs, tumours, and weight.

Here are a few signs that will show as this will make you know that your cat is suffering from constipation, when passing of bowel the cat will be uncomfortable in the process, loss of weight, vomiting is another sign you have to look out for.

Also passing out waste stained with blood all of this shows that the pet is suffering from the disease, point of note, at times, not all the symptoms mentioned here will show up one or two of these signs is enough to show that all is not well with your kitty.


 Preventive Measures to Cat Constipation Symptoms

First and foremost is very important you check the food of your kitties, the kind of food given to them matters a lot as poor dieting can lead to constipation 

also when feeding them make sure water is near where they eat and always make sure they get a regular supply of water.

Exercises play a major role in the life of a man talk less to your pet hence you should take your kitty out always for regular exercises as this will enhance the digestive system in digesting foods

Probiotics should be given to the cat as this help to fight against harmful bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract that causes constipation. 

It has been discovered that milk solution is another fluid that helps in this condition give your constipated kitty, a small quantity of regular milk this help to eliminate the effect of the disease.

Other herbal remedies can as well be used as a means of cure, if you have tried all of the options named above and still have no cure or for a serious case of cat constipation it is advisable you take your kitty to the vet for proper treatment.
