Cats and dogs are long foes we all know they don’t co-exist naturally that is while there is always fighting between dogs and cats.
New research shows how both pets react when both are put together and made to live under one roof, their owners were interviewed here are the discoveries.
The research was carried out at Tel Aviv University in Israel with about 200 people whose both pets were involved in the interview here are the findings.
About two-thirds of those interviewed said that have both cats and dogs said theirs are co-existing very well and are friendly
while one-fourth said both were enemies and there are always fighting whenever both come in contact.
This does show that it is still very difficult for both animals to live under one roof as one or as a friend.
But then from the research where some people were still able to have these two domesticated animal under one roof without any fighting, thus how did they do it?
How come it was possible that way?
Experts and researchers concluded that both pets can co-exist if both were introduced into the home at a very tender age.
That is when the cat is still in his kitty stage of life while the dog is in his puppy stage of life note the cat should be brought in first before the dog.
Frankly speaking, one of the main reasons why the cats and dogs are fighting or are enemies is a result of lack of communication between these two pets
This is not a strange discovery because neither of them is the same spice.
The body language of both is quite different, take for example dogs do shake their tails to show signs of acceptance and happiness.
while cats do the same to absolutely send a different signal which is always the negative signal.
For both of them to get used to one another they have to be raised together.
If you decide to raise a cat and dog in the same house it is best done while both animals are in their kitty and puppy stage of life.
Given them the best chance to co-exist and be used to each other's body language, then you need to have a pet carrier for each of them when you start trying to introduce them to know each other.
Also, make sure each pet has a room or house in which they stay even at a tender age or you get a pet carrier wherein each pet can start to see each other.
Get a cage, one each for the dog and the cat and make sure they have visual contact from the cage for about two to three days so that the dog can be used to the smell of the cat.
After a few days of staying in the cage then allow them both to have physical contact and observe how they can live.
This is done by allowing the cat out of the cage while the dog is lashed, but do not allow both pets to get very close at their first meeting there could be fighting even at their tender age
You have to take the cat back into his cage and repeat the procedure the next day.
You have to do this daily until you are very sure that both can now stand and play around in the house without any sign of fighting.
This make takes a few weeks for the relationship and blending to work out properly in all, you have to be very observant about your dog so that he should not manhandle your cat.
